7 Steps to Consistently Generate Leads

Updated: Aug 26

Before I figured out how to consistently generate leads, my business journey was filled with anxiety and frustration. I remember the first year when I only made $243.22—I felt lost and overwhelmed, constantly doubting myself and retreating into Netflix and blankets when things got tough. The problem? I didn’t have a steady flow of leads. My income was unpredictable, leaving me financially insecure and unsure of what to do next.

7 Steps to Consistently Generate Leads
7 Steps to Consistently Generate Leads

Fast forward to today, and my situation is completely different. Now, I enroll scaleurs every day with minimal effort because I’ve built a robust, steady pipeline of clients who are eager to work with me. If you want to create a consistent income stream, you need to have a steady flow of leads. Let me walk you through the seven steps that helped me achieve this.

Step One: Get Your Heart & Head in the Game

To attract leads consistently, you need to believe in yourself first. It’s easy to get discouraged, especially if you’re not seeing immediate results, but trust me—consistency pays off. I realized that generating leads is simply a habit, one that anyone can develop with time and effort.

When I started, I had to shift my mindset from scarcity to abundance. I kept telling myself that I could generate leads, even when it didn’t feel that way. I embraced the idea that “drop by drop, the water pot is filled,” as Buddha wisely said. Over time, with consistent effort, my lead pipeline began to fill up, and so will yours.

Step Two: Pick One Platform to Show Up On

In the early days, I spread myself too thin by trying to grow on every social media platform—Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, you name it. The result? I was overwhelmed and not making any real progress on any of them.

I finally decided to focus on just one platform where I knew my ideal clients were hanging out. For me, that was Instagram. By concentrating all my efforts on mastering this one platform, I was able to gain clarity, build momentum, and see leads coming in more consistently. If you’re feeling scattered, I recommend choosing just one platform to dominate first.

Step Three: Decide the Kind of Content You Want to Create Consistently

Content creation was another area where I struggled initially. I tried doing everything—videos, blog posts, livestreams—but quickly burned out. The key to staying consistent is to create content that you actually enjoy making.

For example, I’m an introvert, so I’m not a big fan of speaking on Clubhouse or going live frequently. Instead, I enjoy writing and creating Instagram posts. By focusing on content that feels natural and enjoyable for me, I’ve been able to stay consistent and keep the momentum going. Pick the type of content that excites you, and commit to it.

Step Four: Choose How You Will Get New People into Your World

Creating content is just one piece of the puzzle; you also need a strategy to bring new people into your world. I first learned about the importance of this from Derek Halpern’s blog, where he recommended spending 20% of your time creating content and 80% promoting it. This advice was a game-changer for me.

For example, if you’re focusing on Instagram, you could use my “Love Shower” strategy to engage with potential followers and bring them into your community. Whatever platform you choose, make sure you’re dedicating time to actively promoting your content and bringing in new leads.

Step Five: Actually Create the Content

This is where the rubber meets the road—you have to put in the work and create the content. I wish I could magically appear behind you and give you a nudge, but since I can’t, here are some strategies to help you stay on track:

  • Do it first thing every day: I find that knocking out my content creation early in the morning sets a positive tone for the rest of the day.

  • Create a reward system: For instance, if I produce seven Instagram Reels in a week, I treat myself to something I’ve been wanting.

  • Put it on your calendar: Scheduling dedicated time for content creation helps me avoid feeling overwhelmed.

  • Give yourself grace: Remember, you won’t be perfect right away, and that’s okay. Progress over perfection!

Step Six: Implement the Strategy You Drew Up in Step 4

Just as you need to create content consistently, you also need to consistently promote it. Derek Halpern’s advice to spend 80% of your time promoting your content has served me well. For example, after creating a blog post, I make sure to share it across multiple platforms, engage with readers in the comments, and even send it out to my email list.

The goal is to get as many eyeballs on your content as possible. Think of it as honoring the work you’ve already done by giving it the attention it deserves.

Step Seven: Commit to the Long Haul

Finally, you need to be in this for the long game. Building a steady flow of leads takes time, just like growing a bamboo tree. For the first few years, the bamboo doesn’t show any visible signs of growth. But in the fifth year, it suddenly shoots up 80 feet in six weeks.

Your lead generation journey will likely be similar. It might feel like you’re putting in a lot of effort without seeing immediate results, but stay the course. If you keep at it, your bamboo forest will eventually shoot up, and you’ll have a steady flow of leads to show for it.

In conclusion, building a steady flow of leads comes down to taking consistent actions every day. Just like depositing money in a bank, the more you put in, the more you’ll be able to take out. Stick with these seven steps, and you’ll be well on your way to consistent income and business success.
